Ackman's Corner

Ackman's corner was, for many years, the site of great moments in roadside theatre.

Now it is the name of a blog featuring the musings of PRT's managing director - JD Ackman.

Check back for updates throughout the summer.

Ackman's Corner

We were delighted to have some PRT alums join us on July 15, 16 and 17 for what will surely be our annual Alumni Weekend. It is always a pleasure to see some of the people whose commitment and hard work over the years have contributed to the ongoing success of Prairie Repertory Theatre.

As Managing Director it is, naturally, part of my job to promote the company and our season.  This summer’s season is going exceptionally well. We have an outstanding staff and a marvelous group of young artists who have created four terrific productions. We are playing to very good houses of audiences who are thoroughly enjoying the shows.  It is gratifying when everything is going so well. The actors, designers, technicians, and promotional crew are not only doing excellent work. They are learning a great deal about the art, craft and business of theatre. We are surely fulfilling our two-part mission of: 1) Providing intensive training for the members of the company, and 2) Providing the best possible entertainment for people in the area. When we can effectively accomplish both parts of our mission, everyone benefits.

Our first week of performances at the Brandon Performing Arts Center was exciting. We had some new faces join our PRT “family” as more people from the Brandon and Sioux Falls areas came to see our work. The facility is capably managed by Mr. Kevin Brick and his staff. We thank Kevin for his outstanding support. The theatre is a great performance venue and allows our company the opportunity to learn how to adjust to and excel in a new space. We truly enjoy being part of Brandon’s summer activities.

We still have a week of performances at the Brandon Performing Arts Center. We hope you will make the time to join us for some great entertainment.
